Agency rates: what coaching costs, and how agencies should bill

Last updated: Published by Tim Kilroy

Tim Kilroy's Agency Studio costs $399 a month, Studio+ costs $999 a month, and SalesOS and DemandOS are scoped individually.

This page covers both sides of agency rates: what working with Tim costs, and how he advises founders to price and bill their own agency work so cash arrives before delivery.

The question

How much does agency coaching cost?

With Tim Kilroy, group agency coaching is $399 a month and group plus monthly one-on-one is $999 a month. Custom sales and demand systems for agencies past $1M a year do not have a published price because each is scoped to the agency after an initial conversation.

Definition

What is advance billing for agencies?

Advance billing means collecting before you deliver. In Tim Kilroy's cash flow playbook, agencies default to ACH autopay, drop Net 30, and hold each prepayment in a deferred revenue account recognized month by month as work is completed. Confirm accounting treatment with your own accountant before changing terms.

Billing models

How agencies should structure rates and billing

Billing structures from Tim Kilroy's agency cash flow playbook

Date-based milestones50/30/20 or 60/30/10 tied to calendar dates, not approvalsPayments land even if the client goes quiet

Prepaid hour packs10, 25, or 50 hours at a slight discount, expiring after 90 daysFlexible but prepaid
Nobody buys better results. They buy a different outcome.

Pricing

Why agencies lose deals on price

When a buyer cannot see the specific change your agency creates, the only thing left to compare is the rate. Tim Kilroy's fix: move the conversation to the outcome, raise the floor on which clients you take, and walk away from deals that anchor you low. A price objection is often a positioning problem in disguise.

Before raising rates, check your owner pay. Tim Kilroy's 2026 planning workshop suggests budgeting owner salary at 10 to 15% of revenue and holding 20% in an untouchable tax reserve.

FAQ

Agency rates questions

How much does Agency Studio cost?
Agency Studio costs $399 a month. It is a group coaching room for agency founders under $50K a month in revenue, built around weekly working sessions where founders bring whatever is on fire and leave with a decision or next action. Tim Kilroy recommends it once an agency reaches roughly $20K a month; below that, he says, get reps and a clear offer first. In the full FAQ
How much does Agency Studio+ cost?
Agency Studio+ costs $999 a month. It includes everything in Agency Studio plus a custom plan and a monthly one-on-one session with Tim Kilroy. It fits founders between $25K and $50K a month whose deals and delivery still run through them, and who need accountability to install first hires, a repeatable delivery process, and a steadier pipeline. In the full FAQ
How much do SalesOS and DemandOS cost?
SalesOS and DemandOS do not have published prices. Both are custom, done-with-you systems for agencies between $1M and $20M a year, and each engagement is scoped after an initial conversation because the work depends on the specific agency. For current details, visit timkilroy.com, the main website for Tim Kilroy’s services. In the full FAQ
Is $100 an hour good for consulting?
It depends on your market, expertise, and what the client gets, so there is no universal answer. Tim Kilroy’s view is that hourly framing is the trap: when a buyer cannot see the specific outcome you create, the only thing left to compare is the rate. Pricing on the change you deliver, rather than on effort, usually supports higher and steadier fees. In the full FAQ
Should my agency bill on Net 30 terms?
Tim Kilroy’s cash flow playbook says no: collect before you deliver. Default to ACH autopay, invoice retainers on the 15th to 20th for next month’s services or charge on day one of the service month, and hold prepayments in a deferred revenue account recognized as work is completed. Confirm the accounting treatment with your own accountant before changing terms. In the full FAQ
How should an agency bill for projects?
Tie milestone payments to calendar dates, not client approvals. Tim Kilroy recommends 50/30/20 or 60/30/10 schedules so the next payment lands even if the client goes quiet. Other options from his playbook: prepaid one or two week sprints paid 100% up front, and a 25% rush premium collected on signature for overnight work. In the full FAQ
